Settle aboard your air-conditioned coach and admire the rugged Andalucian countryside as you journey to Granada. Along the way, hear an introduction to your destination’s history, and learn how your route is the same as the one taken by the 19th-century American essayist Washington Irving, author of the famous Tales of the Alhambra.

Catch glimpses of the Alhambra Palace on your approach to Granada and, on arrival, enjoy a guided walking tour of this UNESCO-listed gem. Bypass the entrance lines with your skip-the-line ticket, and enjoy priority access to its main attractions, including the Alcazaba, Nasrid Palace, Generalife Gardens and Palace of Charles V.

A vision of Moorish architecture and art, this exquisite complex dates back to the 13th century, and was built as a royal city, court and retreat for Spain’s Moorish rulers. Admire the Court of Lions and Hall of the Ambassadors, and stroll around the enchanting courtyards, fountains and pavilions as your guide shares details of their history.

Next, drive to the center of Granada to enjoy lunch (own expense). Then, depending on your chosen tour option, take a guided walk of the UNESCO-protected Albaicin quarter, Granada’s old Moorish district.

Stroll down the narrow streets past whitewashed houses, churches, gardens and flower-filled balconies, and stop to take in the area’s spectacular panoramas over the hilltop Alhambra.

Afterward, hop back in your coach and drive back to Seville where your tour finishes at the start point.

The Alhambra
On a rocky hill that is difficult to access, on the banks of the River Darro, protected by mountains and surrounded by woods, among the oldest quarters in the city, the Alhambra rises up like an imposing castle with reddish tones in its ramparts that prevent the outside world from seeing the delicate beauty they enclose. Originally designed as a military area, the Alhambra became the residence of royalty and of the court of Granada in the middle of the thirteenth century, after the establishment of the Nasrid kingdom and the construction of the first palace, by the founder king Mohammed ibn Yusuf ben Nasr, better known as Alhamar. The fortress became a citadel with high ramparts and defensive towers, which house two main areas: the military area, or Alcazaba, the barracks of the royal guard, and the medina or court city, the location of the famous Nasrid Palaces and the remains of the houses of noblemen and plebeians who lived there.

Stop At:
Alcazaba
The Alcazaba plainly served a military function. The entrance to the Alcazaba was at the foot of the Tower of Homage . At the base of the tower is a slight slope. A simple L-shaped walkway keeps the main gate from being seen from the outside.

Stop At:
Nasrid Palaces
The habitual residence of the kings of Granada, their construction began at the beginning of the 14th century. The Nasrid Palaces are a palatial complex formed by three buildings: - The Mexuar is the oldest hall. It was employed for meetings between the ministers of the king and as a courtroom. - Next, we come to the Palace of Comares, which dates back to the era of Yusuf I. This dwelling was erected around the Patio de los Arrayanes (Courtyard of the Myrtles), and its side exits lead to the Sala de los Embajadores (Hall of Ambassadors) and the Sala de la Barca (Hall of the Boat). The Hall of Ambassadors is located inside the Tower of Comares. - The Palace of the Lions, dating back to the era of Muhammed V, is also a royal residence. It is composed of a central courtyard, the Courtyard of the Lions, and halls along each side, the Hall of the Mocarabes, the Hall of the Kings, the Hall of the Two Sisters, the Hall of the Ajimeces, leading on to the mirador Daraxa viewpoint, and the Hall of the Abencerrajes, along with the Harem.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At:
Barrio del Albaicin
The Albaicin is a “barrio” (a neighbourhood) of Granada which has been built on a hill opposite the Alhambra. The layout came about when Granada was ruled by the Arabs long before the advent of cars so the streets form a narrow cobblestoned maze interspersed with small squares. The geranium filled balconies, glimpses of the Alhambra at every turn, the silence and the sound of running water in numerous fountains all give the Albayzin a romantic slightly enchanted atmosphere.

Granada Day Trip
KwongTak_C
, Jun 2022
The bus ride was long (3 hours each way) which was perfect for catching up some zzzz especially if your are jet lagged. The stops before the Alhambra was so so, but the Alhambra was impressive. Wear comfortable shoes as you will be doing a lot of walking (12,000 steps). Don't be shy to ask for short cuts if your tire and willing to skip a few picture opportunities.

Do it only if you can't stay in Granada
Xian_N
, Jun 2022
The journey to and fro Granada took about 3 hours, with a stop about 1.5 hours in. Left my hotel at 6:45am and didn't get back until 9pm so be prepared, it is a long day. We spent about 2hrs ish in albaicin. Our Alhambra tour started at 3ish and finished about 5ish. The size of the tour group is big, roughly 35 people? The downside of being in a big group is that there is a lot of waiting around. Because of that the tour of Alhambra felt a bit rushed. Dont bother paying extra for albaicin as it is included. This tour is good for people who wants a day trip into Granada from Seville. If time allows, I would recommend staying a night in granada so you get to take your time to enjoy it more.

Terrible guide tour/ do it your own

Terrible We were late. Lady took us for no reason for the view. Waste of time she took us to a stupid place for lunch and didn’t guide for anything. There were good coffee shop little bit up there she could’ve told us but she just kept us hour and half at the place every one was smoking weed. Tour is terrible they take you with 100 people and no time to see anything and there are all tour people together it’s like 1000 people on same place We left the guide and did our own it was much better then the waste of explanation we got time to take pictures and do it our own self. I would highly recommend to do it to your own this place is worth spending the whole day there.

City of Granada and...

City of Granada and Alhambra was the most beautiful place to visit. Enjoy the town and scenery. We paid more than double the price to book this private trip instead of small group for 4 adults and when the driver showed up in a sedan we were shocked since it was a 6 hour back n forth drive to Granada. 5 adults in one sedan was very uncomfortable. They did not switch the car to a van and told us this is what Viator requested. Apart from that our tour was excellent. Tour guide and the driver were nice and helped us navigate throughout everything with ease.

Excellent day in (hot) Granada
Sandra_T
, Jun 2022
Great tour of Granada's old town and Alhambra Palace. Our guide Toraida did her best to explain the culture and neighborhoods of Granada. The tour starts with the walking tour of old town full of narrow streets and small restaurants and coffee shops. After lunch break they drop you off at Alhambra for a 3 hour tour with a guide. Our guide was exceptional and very knowledgeable about the palace. It was very hot so make sure to bring water and a hat with you since most of the tour is outdoors.

Long day but worth it!...

Long day but worth it! Having a guide to go through the historical facts was very interesting. The stops for the bathrooms should have been included in the schedule on arrival, and just before departure, since the ride from Sevilla to Granada is about three hours.. There was a stop halfway through the bus ride though.

The Alhambra was incredible but the Albaicin was not worth it. Group size too big.
Catherine_S
, May 2022
Visiting the Alhambra was amazing but the tour through the Albaicin was underwhelming. We would have preferred having more "on your own" time at the Alhambra instead of doing the Albaicin tour. There was plenty more to see at the Alhambra. The bus ride from Seville was 3+ hours each way with minimal commentary from the guide. There were about 40 people in the group which was too many when navigating the narrow streets of the Albaicin. The 3-hour tour at the Alhambra was great but it was with an Alhambra-based tour guide. So we could have accessed this part of the day without Viator. If we were to do it again, we would have taken a train to Seville from Granada, scheduled a tour at the Alhambra with an Alhambra-based guide, explored the Alhambra on our own, and stayed overnight in Granada. Skip the 6+ hours of bus ride and the Albaicin. Overall, the Alhambra is worth the visit but I would not recommend this tour.

Outstanding guide named Gus, who noted that he was a native of Grenada and a guide for 18 years. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the tour. ( Only critique was that it was a little hard tl determine our pickup location, we had to call twice). Drivef was excellent too

Very bad tour operator and non responsive
Anurag_A
, Mar 2022
Truly truly appaling, the tour itself and guide were great but the company is horrible and non responsive. We finished the tour and then sat in a parking lot col and hungry and almost two hours as they had sent our bus off to another tour with out belongings still in the bus. In COVID days this is disgusting and unsafe. Then they had to scramble and we couldnt the second part of the tour as time ran oiut and our guide said to try and roam on our own and find a way back to the meeting point. I have done many trips, this was worst all time.
