Authentic experience
, Mar 2020
We had an absolutely fantastic day, jam packed and really well organised. Ibri was the best guide and passionate about his country and what an honour to be taken to his mothers home and made to feel so welcome for a delicious traditional home cooked feast with an amazing view of the high Atlas Mountains. Would highly recommend this trip to anyone.
Amazing experience

We had a fantastic trip with Elhoussain. 100% worth every penny and would do again in a heartbeat. This is as authentic of an experience as you can get. You will pass many tourist groups and other private tours throughout the day, all the while thinking you’re glad you are traveling with Elhoussain because they don’t even know what they are missing. I’m sure they advertise going to a Berber village and eating with a local family, but is that the highest village with your guide’s mother cooking the meal as you take in the best view of the high Atlas Mountains that exist? They probably have a camel ride too, but is it in a car park with poorly treated animals or is it in the Agafe desert with well treated ones. Elhoussain took his years of experience as a tour guide in the Marrakech area and started his own company with exceptional private tours. Go on one. I’m sure you’ll love every minute!
A rich taste of Berber culture

Yesterday, our tour day started with our private guide and driver picking us up outside of our hotel at 8:30 a.m. as planned. We drove about 30 minutes south to a weekly Berber outdoor market. There we saw Berber men trading in livestock, herbs, spices, fruits and vegetables as well as various hardware and electronics. As we walked, our Berber guide provided introductions to traders and we later sat for a cup of tea and a traditional breakfast of soup and bread. We then drove into Atlas Mountains where we walked for about one mile on a mountain path to reach our guide's parents' home (no streets or cars here). At about 2200 meters (6600 ft) the rooftop provided a beautiful, close view of the village and the surrounding mountains. Our guide's sister made a wonderful chicken tagine meal for us while we relaxed and took in the view. After walking back to the car, we then drove to the Agafay Desert where we had a fun guided camel ride for about an hour. Our guide took pictures of us during this time that made for fun pictures to send home. Finally, we had an off-road adventure, taking the same paths in the desert that many of the popular ATV tours take. It was fun and provided quite a contrast to our alpine experience earlier in the day. We were then dropped off back at our hotel at about 6 p.m. with smiles and a deep appreciation for the Berber culture and Morocco in general. Our guide's name was Ibri I believe. He made us feel like a close friend of his as we went through the tour.
An authentic highlight

Our guide Elhoussain and driver Omar picked us up at our hotel in a new and spanking clean Range Rover. We traveled off paved roads through the arafat Desert where we enjoyed a camel ride and learned how to tie our own Berber-style turbans. From there we traveled over the Kik plateau to the small Berber village Around above Imlil in the Ait Mizane Valley. It is located at 1900 m above sea level at the foot of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. This is the home of our guide Elhoussaine and his mother cooked chicken tagine and the fluffiest, most lovely couscous I've ever had. On our way back to Marrakech, we visited the women's Argan oil cooperative and learned how they make various Argan products. Elhoussaine was a wonderful, informative and humorous guide and Omar was a very good and kind driver. We had a fabulous time and felt we had a very authentic experience. I can highly recommend booking a tour with Atlas Dream!

My guide literally was amazing his passion and kindness did not stop. He knows the real culture and expose you to it. I am very hard on hired help and he turned into a friend quickly. I will absolutely recommend him to all my friends traveling there.

Absolutely fantastic experience and unbelievable value for money. All the service providers throughout the day were top notch, and we had the best meal of our whole trip at our guide’s mother’s home in the mountains. Stunning sights and great great service would use this company for any travel needs while in Morocco!
